Walter Jenkin lived in Elizabeth Street Charters Towers Queensland with his wife (several newspapers socials The Northern Miner 1900's)... [1] Walter Thanet was born at sea 13 September 1854 aboard the barque "Isle of Thanet". Departed from Plymouth, Devon 27 July 1854, arriving Port Adelaide, South Australia 24 October 1854. Walter's birth date would have the ship somewhere out in the Southern Ocean. Ship record has 2 births and 2 deaths during the voyage. Barque of 515 tons captained by Captain William Allen, passage was of 90 days and 233 immigrants were landed. Walter's father, at the time of marriage, had been a manager of the Port Laurie Mines, Piriac, Brittany, France.
Walter Thanet Jenkin was 22 years of age when he married Julia Coxall who was 19 years, at Daylesford in Victoria, on 1st January 1877. When married Julie worked as a dressmaker at Daylesford and Walter was a miner, working and residing at Adelong in NSW.
