Biography

Elizabeth Jenkins, was born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1856. 1870 United States Federal Census There is a family story that her name was Elizabeth but the servants? couldn't pronounce it so she was called Eliza Betty. No idea if that is true. When she was 21, she married William Vinnedge, MD in East Quantoxhead, England on August 21, 1877. She was touring Europe at the time. W. W. VINNEDGE, OF LAFAYETTE. ... Later he completed his medical training abroad and was married about forty years ago in England to Miss Elizabeth Jenkins, of this city, who was visiting her uncle and aunt in Europe at the time. Six months later the young ... She and her husband settled back in Indiana. Her daughter Mary Charlotte Vinnedge was born February 11, 1879, when she was 23 and another daughter, Louise, was born December 8, 1880 (24). In 1880 they lived at 148 Columbia Street, Lafayette, Indiana. She had two more children, both sons, Robert Russell Vinnedge, born July 29, 1883, and William Moore Vinnedge in March 1890. She was widowed at the age of 61. She lived 25 more years, until 1943.
