Samuel Jenkins was a Confederate veteran in Co. C, 10th North Carolina Artillery, Army of Northern Virginia.

Mr. Samuel Jenkins Dead
At the home of his only daughter, Mrs. Henry W. Underwood, near Mountain Island, Mr. Samuel Jenkins, and aged and highly respected citizen of that section of the county, died Sunday from paralysis. This was the third stroke he had suffered, the first dating back about three years, since which time he has been confined to his home. Mr. Jenkins was 80 years of age. His wife died about six years ago. Deceased was an uncle of Messrs. Ed and John Jenkins, of Gastonia.
