Biography

William was born in 1895. He was the son of Allan Jenkins and Sarah Baker.

In 1901, Allan Jenkins (31 b Ross, Herefordshire), a Foreman Engineer, was head of household at St, Luke, Gloucester. Also present were his wife Sarah E Jenkins (30 b Gloucester) and children Frederick A Jenkins (1 b Gloucester), Ernest F Jenkins (8 b Gloucester), Elsie M Jenkins (7 b Gloucester), Wm Hy Jenkins (5 b Gloucester), Hubert G Jenkins (4 b Gloucester), Lionel H Jenkins (2 b Gloucester), Flossie M Jenkins (0 b Ipswich, Suffolk).

In 1911, Allan Jenkins (41 b Ross, Herefordshire), a Workshop Manager Engineers and Millwright, was head of household at Bradford St James, Yorkshire. Also present were his wife, Sarah Ellen Jenkins (40 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire) and children Frederick Allen Jenkins (19 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), a Tool Fitter for Millwright, Ernest Frank Jenkins (18 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), a Packer Dress and Woolen Warehouse, Elsie Maud Jenkins (17 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), a Mother's Assistant, William Henry Jenkins (15 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), an Apprentice Cabinet Maker, Hubert George Jenkins (14 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), a Wool Spinners Boy Bobbin Carrier, Lionel Harold Jenkins (12 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), a Scholar, Flossie May Jenkins (10 b Ipswich, Suffolk), a Scholar, Arthur Edward Jenkins (9 b Gloucester, Gloucestershire), Ella Grace Jenkins (7 b Bristol, Gloucestershire), Leslie Charles Jenkins (5 b Bristol, Gloucestershire), Norman Lloyd Jenkins (1 b Bradford, Yorkshire).

William Jenkins, 240100, sergeant in “D” Company, 1st/6th Battalion in the West Yorkshire Regiment, was killed in action in Passchendaele on 10 October 1917.
