Lafayette Jenkins is a part of US Black heritage.

Lafayette was born December 15, 1875 in DeSoto county, Mississippi, USA. He is the son of Sam and Ella Jenkins and in the 1880 Census, his father was listed as a school teacher.[1]

He married Melvina Chalmers on December 23, 1897 in DeSoto county, Mississippi.[2]
