June E. Ovitt

HADLEY June E. Ovitt, 85, of Riverview Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 2007, surrounded by her loving children.

Born on June 3, 1922, in Corinth, she was the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Bovee) Jenkins.

She was a lifelong resident of this area.

June was a graduate of Corinth High School and was employed by General Electric Company during World War II.

On Nov. 7, 1946, she married Leroy B. Ovitt in Edgewater, N.J. Mr. Ovitt passed away on Nov. 2, 1997.

They were blessed with 50 years of marriage.

June was an active member of the Rockwell Falls Presbyterian Church in Lake Luzerne and a member of the Ladies Aide of the church.

She was also a member of the Tri Town Senior Citizens, Silver Threads of Corinth and the Sugar Loaf Senior Citizens in Athol.

She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, flowers, camping and fishing.

She was a loving wife and a blessing to have for a mother.

June was predeceased by her husband, Leroy, and two brothers, Foster Jenkins and Franklin "Red" Jenkins.

Survivors include five daughters: Sandra L. Waite and her husband, Lawrence, of Hadley, Anita M. Ovitt of Knox, Sharon A. Baldwin and her husband, Warren, of Corinth, Anna M. Cassidy of Cambridge, and Betty J. Wyckoff and her husband, Wayne, of Westfield, Mass.; one son, David L. Ovitt and his wife, MaryAnn, of Ticonderoga; a sister-in-law, Doris Jenkins of Corinth; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

June donated her body to Albany Medical College Annatomical Gift Program.

There is no visitation scheduled.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 543 Glen St., Glens Falls, with the Rev. Paul R. Wagner, pastor, officiating.

Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather in the church hall for refreshments.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
