Emma (Jenkins) Baker was born in Gloucestershire, England.

Emma was born to John Jenkins and Eliza Phipps in Bream (a village in the Forest of Dean), Gloucestershire, England, on 20 June 1854 and her birth was registered[1][2][3]during the third quarter of 1854 in the district of Monmouth, Monmouthshire, Wales, United Kingdom.

Emma was baptized[4][5]on 16 July 1854 at St. James Church, Bream. At the time of the ceremony the family resided in Saunders Green, Gloucestershire and her father John Jenkins is noted as a Collier.

Emma was enumerated in the 1861 [6][7] and 1871 census[8][9]and continued to reside with her family in Saunders Green. and then Lydney Lane, Bream respectively.

Emma married Richard Baker and the marriage was registered[10]during the fourth quarter of 1873 in the district of Monmouth.

The April 1881 census[11] shows Emma living with Richard, a Tin Plate Doubler and son Osborne plus her mother, who had only been widowed for a few months was living with Emma and her family in Lydney Lane, Bream. 3 other siblings were living there as well.

By April 1891[12]the family had moved to Abertillery, Monmouthshire where they lived in a four roomed property on King Street with their 16 year old son Osborne, a Hairdresser's assistant and 4 year old Percy (born in Abertillery), plus 2 boarders and a visitor. Richard was a tin plate worker.

The March 1901 census[13]shows Emma residing with her family in Cwm Street, Abertillery.

Emma passed away and her passing was registered[14][15]during the third quarter of 1907 in the district of Bedwellty, Monmouthshire.

Research Notes

In the April 1901 census her son Osborne, now married was living with son Percy. [16]

Richard married again.
