Biography

"In 1836, Abigail, ages 80, widow of the late Samuel, testified to his service in the Revolutionary War in various Rhode Island towns from 1775 until 1781. John Harrington, a fellow soldier, also filed an affidavit concerning this service." [1]

Findagrave: Rockland Cemetery SC146, Scituate RI. Veteran of the American Revolution. He received a pension for service as private in the Rhode Island troops. Son of Joseph Jenckes (1714-1784) and his first wife, Sarah (King) Jenckes (d.bef 1760) of Cranston, RI and Scituate, RI. Brother of Caleb Jenks. His paternal grandparents were Dr John Jenckes and Hannah Boomer Jenckes. He married Abigail Griffiths on Feb 22,1776. Children: Joseph Jencks, Amos Jenckes, Benjamin Jenckes, Samuel Jenks, Hannah Jenks Potter, Abigail Jenckes Randall, Cyril C Jenckes, Sarah Jenckes Wells, and Mary Jenks Adam Memorial ID 32656226 [3]
