Harriet and the family followed William to various postings in the police service following his commencement in Oct 1911. This included Pentland, Queensland (1915-1922)[5] and Maryborough (1925-1828)[6] Bundaberg (1930)[7] and finally to Nanango, from 1931 to 1934 where as acting Sergeant William sadly passed away, leaving Harriet and a number of her young adult children to carry on their lives. Nanango would be a base for the family.
In the Electoral Rolls for Queensland 1936, Harriet is resident at Wickham St., Nanango with her elder sons Charles working as a storekeeper at the Nanango Police Station and William working as a brass finisher in Nanango.[8] Harriet continued at Wickham St., intothe 1940's with her children (with the exception of Arnold and David) some of whom had enlisted registered in Nanango as well.[9]
