Biography

Mary Margaret "Peggy" Jennings was born in 1753 in Virginia, a daughter of Jonathan Jennings and Diannah Bobbit. In 1767, Peggy married Tobias Phillips[1]

Tobias, born January 25, 1750, in Richmond, Virginia, was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. [2] At the time of the war, this family was living in Montgomery county, Virginia.

As both Margaret and Peggy, she and Tobias are found in the marriage and death records of their children, including:

  • (Mary?) "Molly" Phillips, who married Frederick Duesenberry, on December 20 1793, in Montgomery county, Virginia. [3]
  • William Phillips, born circa 1770, in Pittsylvania county, Virginia, widower, who at the age of 86 years, married as his second wife, Mary Gray, also a widow, age 62 years. Mary Gray was born in Franklin county, Virginia, a daughter of Fanny Hale. [4]
  • Francis (Phillips) Dalton, born circa 1784, died May 10, 1877, in Carroll county, Virginia [5]

Grayson county, Virginia was established in 1793. In 1820 and 1830 Margaret lived in Grayson county, Virginia [6] [7]

Margaret (Jennings) Phillips died in 1830, in Grayson county, Virginia and is buried in the Plantation Cemetery, in Floyd county, Virginia. [8] Note: Margaret's Find A Grave memorial is attached to that of ten known children.
