James was born in 1838. He passed away about 1900. His birth date and location are listed on his US Army Enlistment papers.

  • James was a Confederate Soldier at the beginning of the Civil War. He was captured and sent to the POW Camp at Rock Island, Illinois. On 6 October 1864 he enlisted in the US Army as a condition of his release from the POW Camp.

Listed on the Tennessee Death Certificate of William Riley Jennings as his father.
