PS Have you noticed that you can click on Tags to see others interested in that surname or location? The more of these clickable tags you add (20 max.) that include surnames, locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more connections you will make and maybe find a few cousins! To edit or add more tags, click on the word “following” or use this link. This page will help you learn more about tags.

Hi, I am a member of Ancestry.com and My Heritage . I tried uploading my .paf file to Wiki and , since it is too big a file, I wasn't able to do it. My DNA file from Ancestry.com I assume has been loaded.

I am ignorant of how to use Wiki tree .

Hi Stan

It looks like no one saw this comment, as you posted it on your own profile, rather than as a reply to someone.

You could try splitting your GEDCOM file from Ancestry and uploading. It is best to keep GEDCOM files small and manageable, as you have to then go through GEDCOMpare to check that none of the people already have profiles on WikiTree. The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

On WikiTree, we do not store your raw DNA, but rather show your test on the profiles of your ancestors for potential cousins to compare with. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Welcome

I am pleased to confirm you as a member, and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

I would suggest starting with the How-to pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site

Happy tree climbing
