Biography/Research Notes

Birth name Petra Annina Jensen, but census records show spelling "Anina". Born on the farm Tostrup Vængesgaard, Keldby. Her mother, Grethe Pedersen was previously married, so she has one elder half-brother, Lars Peter Nielsen, and has an elder sister Karen Anna (Jensen) Beck (1893-1964) (who emigrates to America) and youngest brother Ejnar Viggo Jensen. Annina's mother dies in 1901 when Annina would have been about age 5, presumably just before the 1901 Census, since that census shows her father perhaps not married, but with a live-in housekeeper/partner Ane Margrethe Pedersen, a woman with the same name as Annina's own deceased mother, and of almost same age. As the only one of her siblings, Annina is no longer in her father's household by the 1901 Census, when Annina is aged only five. Annina is known by descendants to have been fostered, and so she was: by her maternal aunt and uncle (the sister of her deceased mother Karen Stine Pedersen and her husband Peder Larsen (abt.1850-).

By the 1906 Census Annina is a relative (Slægtning) in the home of her farm-owner (Gaardejer) uncle Peder Larsen and maternal aunt Karen Stine Larsen (not many details in this census, but more in the next one of 1911, below)....

5 years later, in the 1911 Census, Annina is still recorded as a relative (Slægtning) in the same 'foster' home , but now with place name given as Røddinge. That census records Annina moved to the parish in 1904, 3 years after her mother's death, when she herself was about 7 years old; by the 1911 census she is about 15 years old.
