John Jensen Leira was born on 20 Oct 1869 in Hjørundfjord, the son of Jens Johnsen and Oline Toresdatter.[1]

John married Anne Martha Knudsdatter Aklestad on 8 May 1892 in Hjørundfjord.[2] They had 9 children, including 3 sets of twins:

In the 1900 census, John was a farmer at Leire in Hjørundfjord.[3]

He died on 14 Apr 1917 in Hjørundfjord at the age of 47.[4]
