The name of Joseph's wife is unknown. According to Jerome family stories, she may have been Native American.

Their children were Lewis and Joseph Jr and possibly Ambrose and Emily.
It is not known when Joseph came to the United States, but sons Lewis (1812) and Joseph Jr. (1815) were born in New York.
In 1850, Joseph Sr. age 60, born Canada, was living with his son Lewis and next family was son Joseph Jr. [2]
In 1860, Joseph age 78, born Lower Canada, was living with Joseph & Mary Flint (relationship unknown)

He died on Nov. 4, 1867 at age 84 in New York.
He is buried in St. Patrick's cemetery in Chateaugay, New York.
[4] Records show he is buried in Section 1, Lot 21 with grandsons Frederic, Jean Baptiste, Theophile. [5] However, as of 2020, no stone can be found.
