Catharine was born in early 1840 (1). She is the daughter of John Jessop and his wife Mary (2).
It is not yet clear whether she was the only child named Catharine Jessop, born in Wakefield area in the period 1839-1841; in which case during the 1851 census she was staying at her grandparents house, and during Q3 1861 she married; or whether she actually died young, before the 1951 Census. No baptism or death record has yet been located. Further research should clarify these matters.

(2) 1841 England Census - Wellington Street, Thornes, Wakefield (HO107 / 1271 / 1 / 12 p.17) shows Catharine Jessop (daughter) age 1 in house of John & Mary Jessop, with four other siblings;
OTHER POSSIBLE RECORDS, NOT YET PROVEN to be THIS Catharine Jessop [Jessop-458]:
(3) 1851 England Census - Flanshaw Lane, Wakefield, Yorkshire (HO107 / 2328 / 237 p.7) shows a Catharine Jessop age 11, born Alvethorpe (a district of Wakefield) granddaughter in the house of Joseph Jessop (b.1777 Gawthorpe) and Sarah Jessop (b.1783 Gawthorpe) with several grown-up children. Research needs to be completed, to confirm if Joseph and Sarah are indeed the parents of John Jessop, Catharine's Jessop's [Jessop-458] father. In such case, this record would be valid, and the marriage record below becomes an almost certainty;
(4) England Marriage Index - Wakefield, Yorkshire 9c 39 (Jul-Sep 1861 Catharine Jessop married one of: Joseph Bray, John Hazlehurst or George Wright)
