Custis was born in 1879 in Florida. He married Mary Alice Randall. When he passed away in 1955, he was buried in the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge, Georgia. His marker is inscribed: PVT CO K 3 REGT US VOL INF Spanish American War. He lies next to his wife. There is a six year old child on the other side of his wife who is named only Lucy and may be their daughter.
