Joshua James, son of Thomas Jewell & Mary, was baptised on 19 February 1837 in Crowan, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. His father was a stone cutter.^[1]

In the 1841 census Joshua (age 4) was in Crowan, Cornwall, England. This census reveals that Joshua was born in Cornwall, but that the rest of his family born "out of county".^[2]

Research Notes

Joshua's emmigration record shows he was born in Heatherley in Devon, England. It's not clear why this is the case so the baptism and census record have been taken to be more accurate and used in the data fields.
