Biography

Albert Jewell was born in 1854 in Buckland Brewer, Devon, England to Henry Jewell and Thirza (Prouse) Jewell. His birth was registered in Bideford, Devon in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Prouse.^[1]

Albert and his family emigrated to Canada shortly after he was born.

In 1861 Albert Jewell (age 8) lived in Mariposa, Victoria County, Ontario with his father Henry (48, Farmer), mother Thiesy (44), and six siblings: Orlando (19 [~22]), Jepeniah (14), Gorlenda (12), Alpheret (11), Rosinda (5), and Eliza (2).^[2]

In 1871 Albert Jewell (age 17, Farmer) lived in Mariposa with his father Henry (56, Farmer), mother Thirsay (53), and four siblings: Henry William (26 [~29], Farmer), Alfred (19, Farmer), Rosinda (14), and Beliza (12).^[3]
