Tryon was born about 1833. Possibly born Rochester, NY.

Military Unit 13th Regiment, New York Infantry Military Company A Affiliate Film Number 71

In 1874 he was granted a patent for "improvement of billiard table levelers".[1]

In 1875 he was granted a patent for "Improvement in Cotton Presses".[2]

In 1876 he was granted a patent for "an improvement in self-opening cans".[3]

In all three pattents, he assigned half the rights to other persons.

In 1850 he appears as Marcus T Jewell - difficult to know if he went by Marcus (father's name) in early life. Records from civil war on appear as Tryon J M Jewell.
