Seth Jewell was the son of Moses Jewell as named in Moses' will (see bottom page) He was born in New Jersey 1 January 1760.
Seth Jewell served in the Revolutionary War as a private for New Jersey with Captains PEarson, Wm Brittain and Colonel Oliver Spencer. [1]
1780, Feb. 19. Jewell, Moses, of Borough of Elizabeth, Essex Co.; will of. Wife, Rachel Jewell, during her life, the use of a £150 banknote, and use of 1/3 my lands, and moveable estate, and all the pewter she brought to me. Son, Seth, that land, called the Swamp, and my part of a piece of woodland on the South Mountain. Son, Jonathan, my homestead, and the land near Joseph Headly, and a meadow on the south side of the road near the said homestead. Sons, Seth and Jonathan, all my salt meadow. Daughter, Rebecca Jewell, a banknote, bearing date the 7th of April, 1779, of £150, and wearing apparel, which was her mother's. To my mother, £100. Executors—friends, Michael Osborn and Robert Wade.
