Sanford's Corners is about 5 miles from Watertown. The first settlement was commenced in 1804, by Roswell Woodruff. The hamlet was know as "Jewett's Corners," "Jewett's School-House," and "Capt. Jewett's," from Ezekial Jewett, who purchased the farm of Woodruff. Sanford Corners Burial-Ground in the Town of LeRay is a plot of ground of about 4 acres.
