Biography

Austin Reuben Jewett was born on December 20, 1828 in Deerfield, Franklin, Massachusetts to Reuben Jewett and Record Richmond^[1].

He married Martha Ann Marshall around 1846 in New York. They had six children:

• Robert Maurice Jewett born January 28, 1849 in Fenner
• Ida Rosali Jewett born May 7, 1851 in Fenner
• Record Sarah Jewett born April 29, 1854 in Fenner
• Clarence George Jewett born November 19, 1859 in Mount Pleasant
• Frank Watson Jewett born August 29, 1862 in Mount Pleasant
• Charles Elmer Jewett born March 14, 1866 in Mount Pleasant

Austin died on September 22, 1894 in Dayton, Chickasaw, Iowa at the age of sixty-five^[2]. He is buried at Bethel Cemetery at Hawkeye, Fayette, Iowa^[3].
