Orrin Jewett was interred in California.

Orrin was born 11 Aug 1843 in Palmyra, Somerset, Maine, United States.[1] His parents were Joseph Danforth Jewett and Loving Weston Jewett.[2]

Orrin, 20 living in Skowhegan, was mustered into the Union Army as Corporal in Company E, 2nd Regiment, Maine Cavalry on 24 Dec 1863. Reduced from Corporal to Private at own request. [3][4] He mustered out and was honorably discharged on 6 Dec 1865 in Augusta, Georgia.[5] The 2nd Maine Cavalry was organized in Augusta, Maine between 30 Nov 1863 and 2 Jan 1864 for 3 years service. The Regiment participated in the Red River Campaign, and the Battles of Marianna and Fort Blakely.[6]

Orrin married twice. His first marriage was to Pamelia Ann Tilton. They registered their intention to be married on 15 Jan 1868 in Skowhegan, Somerset, Maine, United States[7] and were married 8 Feb 1868[8]

He divorced Pamelia sometime between the 1870 Census in June and June 1879.

Orrin married Emma Blackburn on 27 Jun 1879 in Richmond, Henrico, Virginia, United States.[9]

Orrin was a veterinarian. He was a member of Pasadena, California’s John F. Godfrey Post of the G.A.R.

Orrin passed away 1 Jan 1921 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, United States [1]and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California.[2]

Reference Notes

Orrin's death certificate indicates that his middle name and his mother's maiden name were Melton, not Weston. Appears to be incorrect.
