There were two Samuel Jewsburys born about 1832 living in the Measham district and both married a Catherine. One Samuel was the son of Joseph & Maria Jewsbury. This Samuel married Mary Whetton in 1857. She died in 1861 and then he married 30 year-old Catherine Ratcliff in 1862. The other Samuel was the son of William & Elizabeth. His Catherine was born about 1841 and was therefore the younger Catherine.

1861 Census: Odd Fellows Row, Measham, Derbyshire, England. William (67) & Elizabeth (68) Jewsbury with unmarried son Samuel (28); grandson Henry Wileman (20).
1871 Census: Bosworth Street, Measham, Derbyshire, England. Samuel (38) & Catherine (29) Jewsbury with son Alfred (5).
1881 Census: Bosworth Street, Measham, Derbyshire, England. Samuel (49) & Catherine (39) Jewsbury with sons Alfred (15) & William (5).
1889: Samuel Jewsbury, aged 56, died 1st quarter 1889 at Tamworth, Staffordshire, England[1].
