Biography

Jabez was born in 1852^[1] in Gilberdyke, Yorkshire, England, and baptised in Eastrington. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth;^[2] the family lived at Gilberdyke Mill in 1861.^[3]

At the time of the 1871 census, Jabez worked as a farm servant for the Shaw family in Eastrington.^[4]

Jabez married Elizabeth Shaw in Hull, Yorkshire, in 1875.^[5][6] The couple lived in Hull, where Jabez was a fish merchant.^[7][8]

Research notes

Jabez was registered as Jibson and baptised as Gibson but signed his own name as Jipson at his marriage. Fuller-8857 22:04, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
