John Jibson was born at Hive, Yorkshire, England 15 Feb 1795. His parents were Robert Jibson and Mary.
He married Ann Green Scruton 14 Dec 1819 at Eastrington, Yorkshire, England. Ann Green Scruton was born at Sandholme, Yorkshire, England 21 Jan 1798 daughter of Richard Scruton and Elizabeth Green .

John was a farmer.[1] At the time of the 1851 census, they lived at Ingswood House in the same parish, and John was described an agricultural labourer.[2] In 1861 they were recorded living next to the Wesleyan chapel and John was a farmer of 6 acres.[3] Ann died in 1869;[4] in 1871 John lived with his son Marshall and granddaughter Alice in Sandholme.[5]
