Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy. My family tree is on another website.
I've been working on my family tree now since 2007. I was thrilled to have found cousins I didn't know I had and uncovering documents that revealed unknown information that no one else knew about. I am happy to help out others investigate their family trees also. Pre-covid I would go to the local cemeteries to photograph graves for others and add them to Find a Grave. I look forward to exploring WikiTree, growing my tree, chatting with you all and helping out where I can.

Hi Elle,

We're contacting you for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. We really appreciate your involvement in the Project in the last year. Thank you so much for all your help to improve Australian profiles on WikiTree.

Please could you reply to this message, or send me a private message to let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and if you'd like to make any changes to the teams that you belong to. The teams are listed on Australia Project Teams.

If you've moved on to other things for the moment, that's absolutely fine. We'd appreciate if you'd let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list.

Over the past year, Australia Project members have been more active on Discord. We're finding it a fun way to communicate as a project. As you are already a member of the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our chat channels are located, we hope you'll join the chat! It's a great way to communicate with other members on your project team/s, or for any general questions.

We're always happy to receive any ideas or suggestions that you have to make our project even better.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Margaret and Veronica

Hi Elle

Esther's maiden name was Cowburn, as per the sources on her profile

Could you please amend her Last Name at Birth or add me to her Trusted List so I can make the change myself.

Thanks Steve

G'day, Elle. Thank you for all your past work with the Australia Project! This is just to touch base with you as you may not be aware that Project Australia has been restructuring some of our Teams, specifically what was under "Profile Improvers". We've decided to split into four related but separate teams underneath the "umbrella" of Profile Improvement: namely, Sourcerers, Data Doctors, Biography Builders, and Connectors & Arborists. As your name is on the current Improvers Team member list, we've placed you on the teams as indicated by your stated interests (or all of them if nothing is indicated). If you'd like to continue as things are, there's no need to respond in any way (although you are more than welcome to do so). If you'd like to change, add, or subtract a team (or teams), you could let us know which one or more of the new Teams you'd like to continue with going forward by replying to this message, editing in (or out) your area(s) of interest on the relevant page(s), or contacting me by private message (or on discord — where each Team now has its own channel on the WikiAustralia server). Looking forward to working with you! (If you've already made changes, feel free to ignore this message.)

Sourcerers' Challenge Wise Owl Blue Skies Milestone for 50 sourced profiles
Elle Joackim reached the Blue Skies milestone by sourcing 50 profiles in the January 2023 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.

Elle, thanks for your work to improve the tree.

Hi Ella! There's an option "Build Source Citation" in the WikiTree Sourcer extenstion that works well to avoid having the ref tags beneath the references tag. See the explanation here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:DBE_868

You can see these appear in the list at My WikiTree -> Suggestions - thanks!

Hi Elle,

It's time for the annual Australia Project membership checkin. Thank you so much for contributing to the project and Australian profiles on WikiTree during the last year. We really appreciate you!

If you would like to stay in the project, please reply to this message or send me a private message to let us know that you would like to stay on. Alternatively, if your WikiTree and research interests have moved away from Australia, please let us know and we can remove you from the membership list for the moment. You will, of course, be very welcome to rejoin the project down the track whenever you want to.

We are also keen to know if you want to make any changes to the team or teams that you want to focus on. Take a look on Australia Project Teams to see what teams there are to choose from. If you want to discuss this, or have any questions or suggestions about the Australia Project we'd love to hear your ideas.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to us!

Kind Regards

Margaret Haining Membership Coordinator

Elle,

Thank you for your 26 contributions to the November Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.

Thanks for fixing that Elle - I'm trawling through looking for errors - goodness knows how many i've missed while learning!

Hi Rosamund,

You're most welcome. I'm still rather new to WikiTree myself and I've made my fair share of errors along the way. No doubt we'll get better as we go along. Good luck with your research. Elle

Hi Elle, please check these cemetery categories you created yesterday at South Kolan and Miva. If any links show as red they need to be fixed. In both cases the location categories didn't yet exist and must be created. Also, the parent parameter on the CIB is the state, in this case Queensland, otherwise the parent category is also incorrect and shows as a red link. Both have been corrected.

The Australia project has a page for category requests, Australian Categories Waiting to be Added or Renamed. You are more than welcome to add any category requests to that page.

Regards, Margaret, categories team leader

Hello Elle, welcome to the Australia Project. We are delighted that you have joined us!

Hi Anonymous,

I noticed that you used the Challenge Tracker to track changes during the last Sourcerers' Challenge. Please consider officially joining us for the Sourcerers' Challenge. You can find information, including how to join, on the Sourcerers Project page. To get directly to the current G2G thread, here's the October Challenge thread.

No pressure, every profile with a source makes our WikiTree better. Your work will continue to be included on the Tracking Sheet even if you do not register.

Your work is appreciated. Thanks for sourcing!

Debi - Sourcerers' Challenge Facilitator

PS You can put a nickname in Preferred First Name if you would rather we didn't address you as Anonymous. That's how I get Debi to show rather than the name I only heard when my mom was mad *grin* If you did want to be Anonymous, that's OK too!

Hi Debi,

Thanks for your message.

I think I responded to the G2G October Challenge thread yesterday. I had so much fun doing the source-a-thon that I figured why not give this a go as well.

I think I'm starting to become addicted now.

Thanks for the tip regarding a 'nickname' - I think that's a good idea. Will have to give it some thought.

Hello, I noticed you chose the US Black Heritage Connecting Challenge button on the challenge tracker for 7 profiles. I assume you were working on another challenge. Please be careful which button you choose so you can make sure to get credit for the challenge you're working on . Thanks, Emma~~ US Black Heritage
Hi Emma,

Thank you for your message. I am still very new to WikiTree and am still figuring out much of it, including the challenges. I didn't really know what the initials stood for when they appeared in my Challenges menu. I incorrectly assumed that because it appeared in my challenges 'menu' that it was somehow relevant to the record/s I was updating. I don't think I will be needing to use this category in the future. My apologies for causing any inconvenience caused. Many thank,

No worries! It takes a while to figure out how things work around WikiTree and making mistakes is one of the fastest ways to learn :-) There are usually at least 3-4 challenges going on at the same time which show up on the tracker. All you need to do is make sure to check the box for the challenge you're working on. Emma
