Biography

The 1910 Federal Census shows Seth Jocelyn as the jailer for the Ulster County Jail and lists the prisoners. Seth and Lottie also had two boarders: Samuel Herbert and George Miller, both of whom worked at the courthouse. Forty-three prisoners are listed. The 1920 Federal Census shows Seth the warden of the Ulster County Jail and lists 11 prisoners. Seth’s 23-year old niece, Ethel Rickert, also lived with them. She was a school teacher.
