Johan Petter Johansson, sometimes known as JP, was a Swedish inventor and industrialist. He invented a modern adjustable spanner (patents in 1891 and 11 May 1892). He obtained over 100 patents in total.
Johan Petter Johansson, the son of a crofter, was born in Vårgårda in western Sweden. After his military service and work in a mechanical workshop and as a blacksmith, he planned to leave Sweden with the rest of his family to emigrate to the United States. A job offer changed his mind and he remained in Sweden. He started his own business, the Mechanical Workshop of Enköping, and invented a modern adjustable spanner and a plumber wrench. See this article about him in Wikipedia: Johan Petter Johansson
Johan married Matilda Johansson.
