The story circulated around the dinner table when I was a boy concerning a John ancestor who had fought in the civil war. The ancestor, being a younger son, dissappered after discharge and never contacted the family again. The is a Gibson C Johns listed co. F 87 PA infantry. The family wrote the war dept who replied with date of discharge.
