Biography

Thomas was born in 1849. He was the son of David John and Mary Rees. He passed away in 1924.

Popularly known as Tom John, he was a prominent member of the Rhondda community. He was headmaster of Llwynypia school, president of the National Union of Teachers, and editor of the Rhondda Leader newspaper.

Research Notes

He is known to be a cousin of David Evans, but the common ancestor is not yet known, and is also believed to be a relative of David Silyn Evans, although whether this is true, and if so what the exact relationship is, has not yet been determined.
