Biography

Sarah Rebecca Johnson was born 2 April 1925 at Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. She married John F. Nisley on 6 July 1873 at Steelton, Pennsylvania. She died 2 April 1925 at Lexington, Dawson County, Nebraska. was born about 1852. She passed away about 1925.

Holdredge Daily Citizen (Holdrege, Nebraska) 16 April 1925 p. 1, col. 5 (republishing The Lexington Clipper): Mrs. J.F. Nisley Dead. Mrs. J.F. Nisley, born at Clearfield, Pennsylvania, November 25, 1852, and died at her home at Lexington, Nebraska, April 2, 1925 .... Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in this city.... Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.... July 6, 1873, she was married to John F. Nisley of Steelton, Pa. To them were born eleven children, nine of whom are still living. In the spring of 1880 they moved to Nebraska and settled on a farm 4-1/2 miles south of Lexington where they resided until 1906. They then moved to this city. Mrs. Nisley united with the Methodist church at the age of 12.... For many years she has been a member of the Womens Christian Temperance Union actively engage in the great work of that organization, serving as president and in other relations in its good work. She was also an active and faithful member of the Degree of Honor Lodge about 35 years.... She leaves to mourn her going away her husband, nine children and a brother and sister in Pennsylvania. There were seven in her family, five brothers and two sisters, two of whom survive her.
