Catherine was born on 28 Dec 1849, in Windsor, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom, to Joseph Johnson and his wife Anne Unknown. [1]

In 1861, Catherine (11), a scholar, was living with her parents Joseph (54), a Hotel Keeper and Farmer, and Anne (50), and siblings, Joseph (24), a Stockbroker, Fanny (19), and Frederick (17), a Clerk, in The White Hart Hotel, High Street, New Windsor, Berkshire, England.
