Biography

Elizabeth Johnson was the daughter of Samuel Johnson and Ann Ingraham/Ingram Johnson. She was likely born in Eleuthera, Bahamas about 1774-1775. An unmarried Elizabeth is mentioned in her father's 1790 will:

"...I give unto my Affectionate and Loving Wife Ann Johnson my Dwelling House and Furniture and Plantations during her Life and One Third part of all my Personal Estate, and at her Death to fall into the Hands of my Dutifull and Loving Children to be Equally divided. The other Two Thirds to be divided after all my Just Debts are paid & satisfied as follows Thomas Johnson, Samuel Johnson, William Johnson, Ann Sears, Elizabeth Johnson, and Sarah Johnson fore ever, and I do hereby Constitute and appoint my Loving Sons, Thomas Johnson, and William Johnson Executors to this my Last Will and Testament as Witness my Hand & Seal the twenty fourth day of December One Thousand seven hundred and ninety..."

About 1792, Elizabeth married Richard Micklesthwaite or Micklewhite. Richard died about 1800 - the year his will was proved.

Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Micklesthwaite, widow, married Richard Everard Hutcheson in 1803 in Eleuthera. A marriage licence was granted 24 May 1803 by the Governor to Justice of the Peace, Wm Johnson (Elizabeth's brother) for the marriage of RE Hutcheson & Elizabeth Micklethwaite, widow. The couple had four known children: Mary Ann, Richard, Elizabeth Catherine, and Robert Everard Hutcheson, Jr.

Elizabeth Johnson Micklesthwaite Hutcheson died in November 1826 at Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera: "Died: On Tuesday the 7th in. at Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera, after a long illness, which she endured as became a Christian under severe affliction, Elizabeth Hutcheson, widow of the late Robert Hutcheson."

Elizabeth's will was written in February 1825 and proved in February 1827. Her daughter Mary Ann predeceased her.
