Mary Woodin, the mother of John Woodin's eleven children, was severed as the daughter of Edmund Johnson and his wife, Mary. This association was proposed by Janet Ireland Delorey in 1989,[1] but disputed by Robert Charles Anderson in his 2005 sketch about the immigrant, Edmund Johnson.[2] Anderson did not rule out the possibility that the mother of John Woodin's children was the daughter of Johnson's wife, Mary. See Research Notes.
Mary was born 1630 Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts. She died 12 February 1680/1 Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts[3]Mary married John Wooden 1650 Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire[4]

Daughter Mary was a cousin ("nephew") of John Johnson. The death record of John and Mary Woodin's daughter, Mary (Woodin) Clinton, referred to her as the "nephew of John Johnson,"[5] identified by Anderson as Edmund's son.[6]
Based in part on this Mary Clinton-John Johnson relationship, Janet Ireland Delorey (1989) proposed that John Woodin's wife must have been the daughter of Edmund Johnson.[7]
Although Robert Charles Anderson found that John Woodin's wife Mary was unlikely the daughter of Edmund Johnson, he did not rule out the possibility that she was the daughter of Edmund's wife, Mary (Unknown-45942). Anderson wrote, "If the mother of John Woodin's children was born about 1632 and was also a sibling of Edmund Johnson's children, the conclusion that she was a half-sibling rather than a full-sibling seems more likely (but still not proven)."

Is her LNAB still Johnson?
In discussing Delorey's article and conclusion, from Anderson, "The strongest evidence is the statement that Mary (Woodin) Clinton, daughter of John Woodin, was "nephew of John Johnson" [NEHGR 69:51, citing Rhode Island Friends Records.] This agreement 5 December 1692 demonstrates that this John Johnson of Rhode Island was son of Edmund Johnson [NHPLR 7:328]."
So, Anderson isn't disagreeing about a Johnson-Woodin connection, rather, that the connection isn't further defined. See further reply to comment just earlier.
Note to self: There are far too many Marys associated with Edmund Johnson and John Woodin. There oughta be a law ..
