William Varnum Johnson was born c. 1811 in Mansfield, Windham (later Tolland), Connecticut, United States to Kinyon Johnson (1769-1843) and Elizabeth Peckham (1767-1843). [1]

He married Anna Baldwin (1810-1868) c. 1830.
