Abner Johnson is first found in the Records of Rev.John Norton 1748-1778, there he is listed as baptized in 1769, the son of John Johnson and Hannah Clarke. The baptism took place at the First Congregational Church of East Hampton, CT.
Another source lists Abner Johnson's birthdate as 24 May 1769. He was most likely the eldest son of John and Hannah Johnson. John Johnson, born 26 March 1746 in Middletown, CT, was the son of James Johnson and Jane Harris. His wife Hannah Clarke, born 01 January 1749 in Middletown, CT , was the daughter of Jabez Clarke and Sarah Judd.
Abner married Lovisa Carter by 1790. Abner and Lovisa Johnson had at least ten children. They were settled in Broome County by 13 February 1807 when their daughter Sarah Johnson was born. Sarah Johnson married Asa Hunt 09 September 1827. Abner Johnson's grandaughter, Hannah Lucretia Hunt, married the noted New York astronomer Lewis A. Swift, Ph.D.
