Claus Johnson married Rebecca Bankson in Monmouth County, New Jersey on March 30, 1734 in New Jersey and had three children. She died sometime after her renunciation on her husband's estate was made on April 1, 1786. Claus Johnson died before the inventory was made on October 20, 1783.

In 1744, Claus Johnson purchased a farm in Haverford Township, Chester (now Delaware) County, Pennsylvania from Amos Lewis. In the deed he is called a "yeoman" of Bensalem. The property later became the East Course of the Merion Cricket Club Golf Course, and his home as the club house in Haverford.
