Biography

Mary Johnson was born about 1827 in South Carolina. The names of her parents are currently unknown.

Mary married David Stone before August 1848. This is based on the birth of their first child, James Presley Stone's birth on 1 August 1848, in Edgefield Co., South Carolina.

Mary and David Stone left Edgefield Co., South Carolina sometime after 1855, and were in Scott Co., Mississippi in the 1860 Federal Census of Scott Co., Ms. Mary and David's property was sold at a Sheriff's sale in March 1855 in Edgefield Co., South Carolina: "Published in the Edgefield Advertiser, March 28, 1855 "Sheriff's Sale, State of South Carolina Edgefield District, Landon Tucker, Adm'er vs David Stone By virtue of the writ of Fi Fa in this case, shall proceed to sell on Saturday the 31st inst., at the residence of the Defendant David Stone, 150 Bushels of Corn, 1000 lbs of Bacon, 150 bushels Cotton Seed, 18 Head of Cattle, 35 Head of Hogs, Household and Kitchen Furniture, & c. Terms Cash Lewis & Jones, S.E.D."
