Biography

Depending on which early researcher you want to believe Elizabeth Johnson was the daughter of either John Johnson[1] OR Edmund (son of Jeptha) Johnson and Ann Kelly. [2][3]However, there is no proof so serious research is needed to establish her parentage.

Elizabeth's will was written 16 May 1741--proved 11 Nov 1746. "To my son Joseph Nottingham. To son Joshua Nottingham. To my dau. JOHNSON ESHON. To my son-in-law Richard Nottingham one shilling. Sons Joseph and Joshua (neither of lawful age) resid. legatees. Estate to be div. by my sons by (Capt.) Robert Nottingham, Obedience Roberts, and Robert Nottingham Jr. Sons Joseph and Joshua extrs. Witt: Elizabeth Monk, Thomas Hay." [4] [5]

Elizabeth Nottingham was the 3rd wife of Richard Sr.(a.k.a. II). She married him in his very old age and gave him 3 children. The Elizabeth Monk that witnesses the 2nd will is Elizabeth (Nottingham) Monk, daughter of Richard Sr's youngest brother William and his wife Mary. Info provided by Ron Sweeney
