Smith of Knoxville; and Miss Sue Johnson of Gainesville GA.Rev. Johnson was married a second time to Mrs. Mary Bell McGhee of Vonore TN. No children were born into this union, but two step-children Mrs. Verna McGhee of Dayton Oh, and Lawrence McGhee of Winchester TN, survive.Rev. Johnson was ordained to the gospel ministry by the Macedonia Baptist Church Dec. 25, 1898: he was a pastor of Tellico Plains Baptist Church for 14 years and has served as pastor of several Baptist Churches in Monroe, McMinn, and Polk Counties.His last Pastorate in TN was at Benton Station in Polk Co.Because of failing health, Rev. Johnson went to Vero Beach FL, Sept 15, 1930, where he remained until his death.He will be missed by his many friends in TN and in FL.

Revolutionary War Pension,William Johnson’s Declaration Of his Revolutionary War RecordSon of William JohnsonAt a Court of Monthly Sessions for Goochland County at the Courthouse on Monday the 15th day of December 1828.William Johnson, of the County of Goochland & State of Virginia, this day personally appeared before this Court of said County and made the following declaration on oath, that he enlisted in the Army of the United States in the Continental Service in the County of Charlotte in said State of Virginia in the winter of 1775-6 for two years under a certain Captain Brent, most commonly called by this soldiers, Capt. Brunt. His first Lieutenant was Edmond Read of said County of Charlotte, the Second Lieutenant’s name not recollected. His Ensign was named Thomas Spencer. The Company marched from Charlotte Courthouse the latter end of that winter, or the ensuing spring to Portsmouth in Virginia and embodied in a Regiment under Colonel Adam Stephens called the 4th Virginia Regiment and remained under his command till the Army left Portsmouth & sailed up the bay to the head of Elk with said Col. Stephens & Col Robert Lawson & remained in service till the army marched to Valley Forge to take up winter quarters. He was in the action when the Hessians were taken at Trenton. Was in the Cannonade the evening before the battle at Princeton and was in the battle at Princeton the succeeding morning. Was in a number of Skirmishes during that winter, some of them pretty warm and in the succeeding campaign was in the battle of Brandywine and Germantown. While at Valley Forge re-enlisted for the term of three years under Maj. William Washington, afterwards Col. William Washington, in the 4th Regiment of Light Dragoons commanded by Col. Moiland and Col. White. During the (then) term of three years there was very little fighting to the North, nothing more than skirmishes about the line. He continued in the Army till his term of enlistment expired, was regularly discharged and return.
