William Johnson was born about 1700 based on age at death.[1][2] He and his bride were “both of Lexington”.[3]
He was the son of John Johnson and Mary Carley.[4] Note: His parents are based on a secondary source, a primary source has not been found. See Research Notes for other parents which have been considered.
William Johnson served with the Connecticut Colonial Army during the French and Indian War. Unit(s): 3rd Regiment, 9th Company
William was a soldier in the French and Indian War, 9th Company, 3rd Regiment. [1]
The 3rd regiment was commanded by Col. Eliphalet Dyer and the 9th company by Capt. Ebenezer Leach.[5]
He married Ruth Rugg 11 Feb 1725 in Lancaster, Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, although both were of Lexington.[3]
However, Baldwin, Thomas. Vital Records of Cambridge, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850 (Wright & Potter, Boston, Mass., 1914) Vol. 1, Page 402 does have a record for Abigail Jonson, daughter of John and Mary, born 18 Sep 1703. So there was a John Johnson resident about the right time.
