John was the son of Capt. John & Abigail (Sherman) Johnson

He married first, Charity Hill, daughter of James & Sarah (Griswold) HIll, on 20 Jun 1722 at New Haven, CT

After the death of Charity, he married Lydia Ford, daughter of Matthew & Elizabeth (Bradley) Ford, about 1743 at New Haven, New Haven, CT

Their children were Hannah, Mehitable, Sarah, Lydia, Charity & John
