3 Jan 2015 Birth* circa 1628 George was born circa 1628. George Johnson was a Quaker..1,2  Marriage* circa 1658 He married Ellinor (-----) circa 1658. On 10 Nov 1663 in Acc Co George Johnson, planter, gave an iron-gray mare with a mare colt to Elizabeth, Mary and Ellinor Meridee, the 3 daughters of Phillip Meridee dec'd. Johnson's wife Ellinor Johnson, or someone she trusted, could dispose of the gift for the use of the 3 maids. Any other gift alleged to be given by George Johnson was declared void. Signed George Johnson. Witnesses: Chris Tompson and Janes Price. According to Whitelaw, the first wife of George Johnson is known to have been Ellinor, the widow of Phillip Meredith (N123), by whom she had 3 daughters: Elizabeth, Mary & Ellinor. In 1672 George & Ellinor Johnson deeded 100 acres of the Renny land to John Hamerin, who had married the daughter Elizabeth, but 2 years later the Hamerins deeded it back..3,4  Tithable list* 1663 George was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, for in 1663. He was shown as Geo. Johnson with 4 tithables. Also on the list were Richard Johnson with 1, Anto. Johnson with 1, Obedience Johnson with 3 and Edmund Kelly with 4 tithables..5  Jury duty* 16 July 1663 He served on a jury on 16 July 1663 at Accomack Co, VA. Among others on the jury were John Renny and Timothy Coe..6  Tithable list 1664 George was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, for in 1664. He was shown as Geo. Johnson with 4 tithables..7  Tithable list 1665 George was on the list of tithables at Accomack Co, VA, for in 1665. He was shown as Geo. Johnson with 4 tithables. Also on this list were Jno. Renny with 4 and Alexander Massy with 2 tithables..8  Marriage* before 1678 He married Mary Goldsmith before 1678. In 1678 George & Mary Johnson sold 1,025 acres to William Nock and 10 years later Johnson gave him a deed for 25 acres more found within the bounds..9,3  Anecdote* 8 October 1685 In his will dated 8 Oct 1685 in N'hamp County, Lt. Col. William Waters named friends Thomas Evernden, George Johnson, Timothy Coe, Thomas Browne, Daniel Eyre and my brother (meaning half-brother) John Robins to assist my Extr and sons.10  Will* 10 December 1690 He made a will on 10 December 1690 at Muddy Creek, Acc Co, VA. He was shown as George Johnson, the elder, written at my now dwelling house at Muddy Creek. To son George 200 acres near Blocksomes Bridge. To daughter Sara Stevens. To son John plantation where I now live. To son Samuel land & marsh. George Truet, William Nock, Thomas Browne, John Drummond & Daniel Ayres overseers. Wife Mary Exec.
