Biography

In 1860 he resided in Wayne County, Virginia. His household included his wife, their son Henson as well as four of George's siblings, Leah, Eclatis, Wm H, and John. They were residing with George because their mother (Cynthia Hazlett) died Dec 1856/ [1]

George Johnson (age 21 years 5 mos, born Lawrence County, Ohio; son of S. & S. Johnson) married Jane Watts (age 16 years 5 mos., born Lawrence County, Kentucky; daughter of H. & N. Watts) on 20 December 1855 in Wayne County, Virginia. The groom's occupation was farming.[3]

In 1900 George W. Johnson was age 66 (born June 1833) and resided with his wife Jane J. Johnson, age 62 (born June 1837) in Butler District, Wayne County, West Virginia. The household next door included the family of Henson and Caroline Johnson.[4]

Will of George W. Johnson of Whites Creek, Wayne County, West Virginia was written 14 Dec 1908 and recorded 5 Feb 1909. He names his son D.H. Johnson and daughter-in-law Caroline Johnson. Grandchildren include: G.D. Johnson, Ada Wellman, Herma Johnson, Amelia Lambert, and Raymond Lambert. Brother, William H. Johnson. No relationship stated: Martha Brumfield, wife of Bostic Brumfield and Elisha Buckingham. Executor was J.H. Lambert and witness C. Watts.[5]
