Alexander Crosbie Johnson was born in 1873, the son of Jane Hislop Johnson and William Johnson.[citation needed]
“Marriages. Johnson -Crawford. -On the 6th January, at Christ Church, Moyston, by the Rev. Canon Hayman, of Stawell, Alexander Crosbie, eldest son of William Johnson, engineer, Ararat, to Annie, eldest, daughter of Robert Romney Crawford, of "Oakleigh," Moyston.” [The Age, Melbourne, 10 Feb 1897] Annie died in 1914.
He married Ellen Ann Gossip in 1916 in Victoria, Australia.[1]“Johnson — Gossip. The marriage of Miss Ellen A. Gossip, eldest daughter of Cr. T. J. Gossip, of Ararat, with Mr Alexander Crosbie Johnson, eldest son of the late Mr William Johnson, of View Point street, was celebrated last evening by the Rev. H. E. Noltenius, B.A., at Holy Trinity Church in the presence of a number of friends and relations. The bride, who was given away by her father...” [Ararat Chronicle, 12 Sept 1916] He enlisted on 4 Sept 1916 in 39th Battalion, embarked 16 Dec 1916 in the 8th Infantry Brigade, 29th Infantry Battalion, a married carpenter aged 43, and was discharged on 17 March 1919.
Alexander died in 1936 in Ararat, Victoria.[2]Alexander Crosbie Johnson died in 1936 aged 63, formerly tally clerk, but late of Ararat carpenter, left a will dated 23 Nov 1936 in favour of Ellen Ann Johnson his widow.
