He passed away prior to 1797 in Surry County, North Carolina.^[1]Among items mentioned in the inventory for his estate were 6 pewter plates--six in family?? 8 cups and saucers--6 for family and two for company? Only one man's saddle and one woman's--everyone else walked? 3 bridles--some one rode bareback? 2 geldings, one filly--- didn't ride the mare with colt? Nice household, included looking glass and testament (or Bible, wish we had it now) and spelling book. Admrs of Jeffrey's estate were Jesse Lister (or Lester), Tabitha Johnson and William Johnson. Was Tabitha the wife? Estate did not have enough assets to pay debts. Settled for smaller amount than owed.
