Biography

James Laudicy Johnson was born on 1 May 1874 in Meadow Township, Johnston, North Carolina (NC), United States. He was the son of James Henry Johnson and Amelia “Melia” Barefoot. [1] In 1880, John, 6, was living on his parents’ farm in Meadow Township with his 3 brothers and 5 sisters. [2]

James married Sarah E Lee on 21 Dec 1898 in Johnston, NC. [3] In 1900 and 1910, James and Sarah are farming in Meadow Township. They own their home free of mortgage. They have 5 children: John G, Pharby E, Susan R, James V and Robert L. [4] [5]

Sarah passed away in Jan 1913, leaving James widowed. [6]

On 12 Sep 1918, James Laudacy, completed his US World War I Registration Card. He is 44 and lives in Four Oaks, Johnston, NC. He describes himself as of medium height and build with black hair and blue eyes. He lists his nearest relative as Malia Johnson, perhaps his mother as she is still living. [7]

James passed away on 17 Nov 1939 in Four Oaks, Johnston, NC at age 69. [8] [9] He is buried in the Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Four Oaks, Johnston, NC along with his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Pherabia Johnson Bailey. [10]
