In 1885 he would take legal action -Dobson Johnson versus Monroe Neal Et Al. The bill is taken for confessed. Charles Cooper has been dead for more than six months leaving the property in DeKalb County. No one has qualified as administrator. B.M. Cantrell is appointed as administrator 11 April 1885(P57)[10]
Further court action would follow in 1888 -Dobson Johnson versus Monroe Neal Et Al. Defendent moved to dismiss the bill in this cause so far as it involves Charles Cooper's estate because it is not filed for the purpose of having an administrator appointed. 22 Aug 1888 (P 151)[11]
Further noted in 1889- Dobson Johnson vs. Manerva Neal et al. The bill is dismissed. 4 Nov 1889(pp 8-9)
In 1900[8] Mary confirmed she had 11 children, with eight still living. They were living in District 9 in DeKalb County, Tennessee
Mary appears to have passed away between 1900 and 1910, as he had remarried Emmer by 1910.
In 1910[9] his grandson Odie and stepdaughter Johnnie Cooper were living with him. He was living in District 19 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.
JR Sandlin, the enumerator of the 19th School district of DeKalb, confirmed that he died on the 21st of October, 1911, in Liberty, Tennesse, due to Pneumonia[1]

During his life he would be in the Military, and be noted on the 1890 Veteran's Schedule for DeKalb County, Tennessee[12]
